The Sheer Exhaustion of Winning
#1
i think when trump got re-elected the main thing that was troubling me was like, i'm worried that maga tribal thinking is gonna keep spilling over the border

i failed to consider that the major project of american government was going to be dangling nuclear armageddon for the slim hope of achieving political NET LOSS and global recession rather than global depression. and that is honestly on me

I don't think any of us predicted just how to balls to the wall his second term would be. In my memory he didn't really do much political power wise the first time around besides nurturing toxicity in his supporters?

Yeah I think the tell is in how many of the maniacs on the right have completely turned on him. Alex Jones and Nick Fuentes to name a few, as well as Sneako etc.

I never thought i'd see Israel becoming a bipartisan issue in this day and age. Beautiful sight to the eyes - now watch as the Dems lose even more ground because right wing mercenaries like Fuentes and Jones are speaking more sense than they area.

I think it'll have the opposite effect personally. Dems and centrists will use Fuentes and Jones's extremism against them to say look 'you can't go along with anything these people say'.

Fuentes in particular is undergoing a huge rebrand right now to be more palettable to the left and it's working. I worry where it will lead us.

tbh beyond caring about what champagne socialists & liberals think or try to peddle. it is beyond clear for anyone with a brain that the dems and institutional politicians are just controlled opposition. I know that people like Carlson and Fuentes are just pivoting because the audience are pivoting, but the liberals have dug their grave and sat in it as they are incapable of comprehending the tone change domestically and internationally. if Fuentes gets a bunch of rednecks to see Israel as the great evil, then Fuentes is more tactically useful to the left & common human decency than a dozen spineless liberal politicians - and fuck the centrists. shouldn't even be in any serious conversation.

no. it is the clearest moral litmus test of the past 150 years and the answer has always been clear: Israel must be dismantled root and stem.

I keep trying to find the energy to try and illustrate to all of you how it feels being in this country right now. I don't even know where to begin with that. I carry my passport with me everywhere I go now, and my mom's NPR-donating, Honda CRV-driving soccer mom friends have been discussing what the heaviest possible firepower they can legally own is. I heard one of them describe Vladimir Lenin's writing as "very catty" in terms of how he talks about other Marxist thinkers of his time. This is a woman that told me ten years ago that Bernie Sanders had no chance at winning, and now she is quoting Lenin and Mao and cheering for more Luigis and warehouse burnings. I feel vindicated. I feel exhausted.

So that's where I'm at right now. Somehow my city has not had significant ICE actions, which I feel very lucky for at the moment. But it's any day now. All of it, the whole house of cards, this whole fucking joke of an imperialist shitshow, it's any day now and everyone is saying it and feeling it.

The right wing is trying to weasel their way out of responsibility for this mess we're in, and the dems are telling their voters about how evil Hasan Piker is. Joke country.
