Will Physint being an Xbox title affect your next-gen console choice?
#1
Hello! Here's another of our "Cardboard Box Vox Pops", where we get the general consensus of the forum on some simple questions.
For those of you that use a theme with a sidebox you'll have noticed the poll has appeared there to maximise the number of votes we get. If you wish to explain your answer feel free to in this thread, but otherwise, feel free to vote and explain nothing!

This time our question is about whether the recent announcement regarding Physint: Will Physint being an Xbox title affect your next-gen console choice?

Sony's decisions in general are the determining factor rather than this in isolation for me. A console with no disc drive or discs is pretty much a no-go for me, so if I am to continue gaming, it'll likely be through building a PC. I almost did it about 10 years ago, had most of the parts and was being guided by someone but felt it was getting too expensive towards the end so I backed out. How foolish I was looking at parts now. Still, I'll likely just keep an eye on prices and try jump on deals here and there over the course of a year or so and try to make it work that way.

I agree with you on the Sony bs wholeheartedly...but I do think that Physint would have been a must-play exclusive for me and I would have probably felt the need to figure out a way to play it, be that through buying a secondhand PS6 down the line or some other means.

Also, whether or not the cancellation itself was the final nail in the coffin of whether I buy a PlayStation, on the flip side it does potentially mean I may actually buy an Xbox-do their exclusives launch on Windows on the same day usually or no?

I just can't see myself going near Xbox again. They are trying to turn things around but it's all still far too messy for my liking, and they've had a lot of projects with a lot of potential in recent years and we've seen a lot of them falling into oblivion with teams and staff being gutted. I'm not that sure I fully believe just yet that this will definitely go where it looks like it is headed currently.

I was already leaning towards the PS5 being my last console and I think I'm there now, though I don't rule out a Switch 2 in the future. If console prices weren't insane, like my Steam Deck and PS5 have appreciated in price is a stupid thing to say, I'd have looked at Physint as something that would tempt me to a specific console but I think it's going to have to be seriously good to even tempt me to even bother with the next generation of gaming based on price alone and that's not taking in to account the other shitty practices. There's a million cheap, good games on Steam I'd need a hundred lifetimes to get through I can play on my Deck. I think that's where my personal gaming future leans.

Discs would have been the main motivator for me but this is just another reason. Plus, I do not need convincing to buy into XBOX and MS's gaming eco system, as in my opinion they've always done things incredibly well in that respect. The 360 and the second phase XBOX LIVE still remains probably my favourite ever era of gaming.

Still, like Nate says I do have some concerns about MS and XBOX too, I mean who wouldn't? But not enough that it wouldn't be an instant no-brainer for me to switch.

On paper? Yeah, I've felt the same way for a long time, especially now with my work hours, commuting and being a family man father. But it's hard for me to entertain the idea of having a console to just play digital games, it just feels wrong and stupid really. I'm likely to go the same way as Wayno, stick with Nintendo as long as they respect the desires of people for physical media (then again GKCs might suggest it won't last too long) and maybe just keep adding to my now retro collection of things I've never played before but wanted to.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, I'm not buying a digital only system that I can't jailbreak (PSP Go my beloved). It's just a money pit.

Playstation baby since the PS1. Physint certainly isn't the reason, but it's definitely one of the final nails in the coffin for me. PS5 has had a series of nonstop let downs for exclusive titles which has made me question what the benefit has been of buying this console, Demon's Souls Remake was phenomenal to play again, but I prefer the original. Spider-Man 2 was deeply lacklustre, and then the rest are just on PC? Might just buy a new graphics card and delegate my PS5 to TV show and film duties honestly.
